God Help Us All
The phrase “they don’t own me” relates to the sovereignty concept of “self-ownership”. If you in fact “own” yourself, then:
- You are the only one who can control your own behavior if it doesn’t demonstrably injure others or interfere with their EQUAL right of self ownership.
- You are the only one who can define words that might affect or interfere with the EXERCISE of that ownership and control. See:
Ownership as the Origin of the Right to Define, SEDM
https://sedm.org/ownership-as-the-origin-of-the-right-to-define/ - The only real “law” that can interfere with your self-ownership is the CRIMINAL law, because it does not require your consent to enforce like the CIVIL law does. See:
Why Statutory Civil Law is Law for Government and Not Private Persons, form #05.037
https://sedm.org/Forms/05-MemLaw/StatLawGovt.pdf - Since God is the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth, He owns everything, including you. That ownership, however, is exercised through His laws that restrain His power to give us maximal liberty and control over ourselves so long as we don’t injure others but rather love and respect our fellow man.
