The Vanishing American Adult-Ben Sasse

Congressman Ben Sasse explains his wonderful book “The Vanishing American Adult”.  He served as a college president for five years and he learned a lot.  It explains a crisis in modern America with raising functional youth and adults.  He says the problem with today’s youth is that they are not being properly parented, mentored, and raised.  He says that problems in life are a blessing and great way to develop maturity and skills.  He emphasizes responsibility as a way to mature, and explains that young americans aren’t growing up because they avoid responsibility.  Personal responsibility is a central theme of this website and of being sovereign.

He is a strategic thinker, and believes that whatever task you begin, you should begin with a goal of how you want that task to end.  This is an important leadership principle which is found in one of our favorite books, which is “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People”, by Steven R. Covey.  We read this book at an early age and it had a strong impact on us.
