Secular praise of the main virtue of Christianity: HUMILITY

“The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off”

“Well I can’t be your mentor without occasionally being your tormentor”.
[Ted Lasso]

This article explains why most people’s minds are CLOSED and how you can open YOURS. VERY IMPORTANT!

We are sorry about the profanity in the above video, but it is designed to allow this site and its message to reach a large secular audience of POTENTIAL Christians who need to have their mind opened up enough to even HEAR the Christian message presented by this website. We trust that Christians watching or reading this message will NOT, per their Biblical delegation of authority order, be in any way offended, since they are hopefully ALREADY humble enough to receive it without offense.

“And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me [God].”
[Matt. 11:6, Bible, NKJV]

In this video, he identifies HUMILITY as the SOLUTION to the problem he exposes. That means the OPPOSITE of humility is the CAUSE of the problem, which means PRIDE. He had to be indirect about that point, because he didn’t want to scare away the prideful with his video so they would watch the whole thing.

The wise person knows and is willing to admit what they don’t know. The prideful or arrogant are not. This is the essence of the Christian virtue of “humility”:

“Before destruction the heart of a man is haughty, And before honor is humility.”
[Prov. 18:12, Bible, NKJV]

“By humility and the fear of the Lord Are riches and honor and life.”
[Prov. 22:4, Bible, NKJV]

“Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;”
[Collossians 3:12, Bible, NKJV]

“Humility Cures Worldliness

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.”
[James 4:7-10, Bible, NKJV]

“But the person who does anything presumptuously, whether he is native-born or a stranger, that one brings reproach on the Lord, and he shall be cut off from among his people.”
[Numbers 15:30, Bible, NKJV]

And in their covetousness (lust, greed) they will exploit you with false (cunning) arguments [“words of art” that advance FALSE presumptions]. From of old the sentence [of condemnation] for them has not been idle; their destruction (eternal misery) has not been asleep.”
[2 Peter 2:3, Bible, Amplified Edition]

Secular versions of the above scripture include the following:

“The power to create presumptions is not a means of escape from constitutional restrictions.”
[Bailey v. Alabama, 219 U.S. 219 , 238, et seq., 31 S.Ct. 145; Manley v. Georgia, 279 U.S. 1 , 5-6, 49 S.Ct. 215]

Ignorance more frequently begets confidence [and presumptions] than does knowledge.
[Charles Darwin (1809-1882) 1871]

“Believing [PRESUMING without checking the facts and evidence] is easier than thinking. Hence so many more believers than thinkers.”
[Bruce Calvert]

“What luck for rulers that men do not think“
[Adolf Hitler]

“There is nothing so powerful as truth, and often nothing so strange.”
[Daniel Webster
]

“Prejudices, it is well known, are most difficult to eradicate from the heart whose soil has never been loosened or fertilized by education; they grow there, firm as weeds among stones. “

[Charlotte Bronte]

“The significant problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them.”
[Albert Einstein]

“He who knows nothing is closer to the truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”
[Thomas Jefferson]

Here’s how you can know when you are witnessing something that is true:

Truth fears nothing
Truth fears no lies
Truth doesn’t need to conceal anything
Truth doesn’t have to do a cover up
Truth only hurts those who are unwilling to wake up
Truth is never your enemy
Truth knows no ego
Truth doesn’t give a shit about your status symbols
Truth doesn’t care about your age, your weight or your skin colour
Truth couldn’t care less if it suits your comfort zone
Truth doesn’t need any frills, any speeches, any glamour
Truth stands for itself
and it patiently waits till you are ready for it

We also have a sermon on this site about why people won’t listen to you:

Why Some Will Not Listen, Pastor John Weaver, 2 Sam. 17:1-4
https://youtu.be/oP8yCggjR24

We condense this entire article into the following practical proverb we use to approach ANY new or unfamiliar subject:

“Listen to everyone, but trust no one.”
[SEDM]

The following child in Sixth Grade didn’t “get the memo” on this article, obviously:

Below is a video describing how malicious public schools close the minds of rebellious children like the above:

The “glasses” in the following movie are the OPEN MIND created by having HUMILITY:

Just like glasses in the old cult classic “They Live”, opening one’s mind to new information and possibilities is the key. As we frequently say on this subject:

Minds are like parachutes: They only work when they are OPEN.

[SEDM]

You can’t really “think” until you have a truly open mind. Those who are not humble avoid the risk created by having a truly open mind and thereby become a literal prisoner of their own negative, ignorant, or unrealistic expectations or beliefs:

Risk..

To weep…
is to risk appearing sentimental,

To hope…
is to risk despair,

To reach out for another…
is to risk involvement,

To try…
is to risk failure,

To expose feelings…
is to risk exposing your true self,

To place your ideas, your dreams before the crowd…
is to risk their loss,

To love is to risk…
not being loved in return,

To live…
is to risk dying,

But risks must be taken because the greatest hazard in life,
is to risk nothing.

The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing, and is nothing. They may avoid suffering and sorrow, but they cannot learn, feel, change, grow, love, and live. Chained by their certitudes, they are a slave, they have forfeited their freedom.

Only a person who risks.
is free.

For a biblical account of how God views those who REFUSE to take risks, see Matt. 25:14-30, also called the Parable of the Talents. In this parable, God accused the servant who didn’t want to take risk of being a BAD steward of His property. That property, by the way, is the ENTIRE EARTH.

When you follow the advice of the guy at the start of this article and thereby reach the “nirvana” of being truly humble, having an open mind, taking the risks associated with opening your mind, and not having such strong and even offensive opinions, you will, in secular terms, learn “not to give a fuck”, as this fascinating TED video points out:

The above video focuses on the central idea of “not giving a fuck” about things you can’t control, as indicated below. It’s SILLY and naive to waste time, energy, and talent on things you can’t ultimately or actually directly control:

The idea of the above video is not new or unique. It only APPEARS unique to those who are not already Christians. The BIBLICAL basis for the above video are the following scriptures right from the mouth of Jesus, in fact! What Jesus is talking about is how to treat people who don’t agree with your beliefs and opinions, in fact, and these things are the essence of what religion is all about:

“And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet.”
[Matt. 10:14, Bible, NKJV]

“And whoever will not receive you nor hear you, when you depart from there, shake off the dust under your feet as a testimony against them. Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!”
[Mark 6:11, Bible, NKJV]

“And whoever will not receive you, when you go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet as a testimony against them.”
[Luke 9:5, Bible, NKJV]

  1. […] We WANT people to feel “overwhelmed” when they first arrive on our site. That is because HUMILITY is a foundational Christian virtue and those who feel overwhelmed will DEFINITELY have to be HUMBLE to stick around our site and dig deeper.
